Why Social Club Membership Counts
There are around 6,500 community and social clubs around Australia and astonishingly, about 30 % of those are Probus Clubs.
One of the issues with retirement is what do you do with your time? Some of us find renewed vigour for old hobbies, like gardening or crafts, both things we could do on our own and in our own homes.
But what if that’s not enough? Well, over the years around 125,000 retirees have taken to Probus Clubs with absolute gusto and have been spending much of their retirement time simply socialising and having fun with friends. They’re always happy to tell you how much Probus has brightened their lives and rekindled their zest for fun and friendship in retirement, and they’re equally happy to welcome new members into their Clubs.
You’ll find Probus Clubs are a mix of socialising, morning teas or lunches with interesting guest speakers, and both small and large group activities arranged by fellow Club members.
Probus Clubs have a great choice of activities every month, whether it’s day trips, playing cards, crafting, dining out or helping arrange even more activities for your friends. But it’s not just about your own social life of course, it’s also about what you as a member can add to others’ lives.
The Probus Club of Old Bar Beach is one of your local clubs. Want to know more? Contact Rita on 6553-7711.

It’s AGM Time of Year
Three organizations at Old Bar are having annual general meetings in the next few weeks.
This Sunday, August 25, the Old Bar Beach Sand Replenishment Group holds its meeting at 2.30pm at Club Old Bar.
Then the following evening, Monday August 26, Old Bar Beach Community Technology Centre will do the same at 5.30pm at Club Old Bar.
The Old Bar Manning Point Business & Community Association will hold their meeting on Saturday September 14 at 3pm at FLOW Bar, 31 David St. Old Bar.
Membership renewals are due for these organizations now and new members can sign up at the AGM. The Sand Replenishment Group and Business & Community Association deserve more support from the community. Joining is one way you can show your support.
Although the CTC enjoys the support of 20 volunteers, more volunteers will always be welcome. The role of volunteers is more in line with office administration/reception and great technical skills are not necessary.
